    Disciple de Maître SHIODA Gozo qui enseignait un aïkido très proche de l'aïkijutsu des samouraï, OBATA Toshishiro est le créateur de l'école Shinkendo (La Voie du vrai sabre). Basé sur l'efficacité en combat, ce style est utilisé par la police de Tokyo, à laquelle Maître OBATA a enseigné.
    Un documentaire sur la coupe au sabre et la démonstratio de Maître OBATA au Festival des arts martiaux de Paris-Bercy en 2006, complètent ce documentaire.
