Established in 1993, the Yamato group is the image of its country, mixture of spirituality, tradition and modernity.
If they are inspired by the ancestral tradition of the drums of Japan, where the instrument made in the wood of the sacred tree is carrier of the divinity, the musicians appropriate the variety and the wealth of the various cultures of continents.
Matsuri is the name of their new show.

We wait for the storytellers and for narrators Pascal FAULIOT, for Annie MONTREUIL, for Montaine LOISIER and for the other surprised interventions.

The Espace Mitsukoshi-Etoile announces:
“Later about 20 years of presence in Paris, 46 exhibitions, and numerous cultural events, we regret to stop our activities.
It was a beautiful adventure, punctuated with fruitful exchange. Our ambition was to bring always the best of what seemed to us essential in our culture.
In 1992, by opening Mitsukoshi-Etoile, we were lucky to be one of precursors, by creating a large-scale independent exhibition centre. It was unique in Paris in the time, and we were happy to be able to present number of masters in our artistic specificities, and proud to see how much public French appreciated their art.
Our wish is to have been able so to sow a few with this tolerance necessary for the peace and for the understanding of the peoples.
We are sure that the future will allow prolonging these exchanges between our country and France, so that deepen our links, and our mutual curiosities.”
Paris, March, 2011.

A magic place, with exhibitions full of feelings and talents, very often recommended in these pages by the ARZ, closes. It is the opportunity to reopen all the catalogs not to forget the often felt delight by crossing the threshold of one of the rooms of the Espace Mitsukoshi-Etoile.

Ofuda appears mostly under the shape of a page of printed paper which, thanks to the central presence of an image or sometimes simply an inscription, embodies a being worshipped in the Buddhism or, more rarely, in the Shintoism. This one, distributed to the believers, is quite at the same time support of private worship and talisman meaning the active presence of the divinity.

In Rakugo which means literally “word which has a fall”, the storyteller sat on knees uses a range and a tissue to reproduce all the situations of the stories. These stories fallen from a range are the ones of Henry Black, rakugoka the era Meiji, of English origin and Japanese of adoption to which the storyteller Stéphane FERRANDEZ offers his body and his voice.
Of funny tales where you will see a hermit on pilgrimage with his wife, a rogue to try to swindle a trader of noodles and a good drinker to take up the challenge of its life...
Show supported by the French Institute and the French-Japanese Sasakawa foundation.
