Founded in 1993, the Yamato group is the image of its country, mixes spirituality, of tradition and modernity.
If they take as a starting point the ancestral tradition of the drums of Japan, where the instrument manufactured in the wood of the crowned tree is carrying the divinity, the musicians adapt the diversity and the richness of the various cultures of the continents.

UEDA Junko, virtuoso of the satsuma biwa (the lute in the “neck of crane”), is especially one of the biggest Japanese singers, a master of the traditional kind biwa (epic song) and the Buddhist shômyô song. She notably specialized in the interpretation of the works of the Japanese composer Tôru Takemitsu. UEDA Junko studied the satsuma biwa with the famous master Kinshi Tsuruta and the Buddhist shômyô song with Kôshin Ebihara. Formed in the composition at the music university of Tokyo, she quickly dedicated itself to the triad of the song and the lute. Her disks of biwa traditional Heike Monogatari and Satsuma Biwa received numerous prizes, among which Grand Prix of the Disk of the Academy Charles-Cros and cheapest prize of the “Monde de la Musique”.

The course of MIYAZAKI Mieko begins at the age of nine with the discovery of the koto. Its learning with Tomizo Huruya and Sachiko Tamura, then within Tokyo National University of Liqueur brandy Arts and Music is crowned by a performance in the presence of the Emperor and of the Empress of Japan within the framework of the imperial palace.
